For light applications where the required rangeability is very low or where there is only one operating point with a small flow rate to be attemperated, it is possible to install one or more fixed area nozzles on a probe directly in the steam pipeline, so as to inject the water close to the axis of the pipeline. This solution is the simplest from a manufacturing point of view and allows for good attemperation in applications where significant variability of process conditions over time is not expected.
